Windermere Weekly Parent Update from Mrs. Nolan:
Happy Friday. Windermere is flurry of excitement today as we are all counting down the hours until our annual Windermere Fall Family Fun Night tonight! The scarecrows, lining Windermere Road, this year are AMAZING! A special thank you to Monica Moyer and Lauren Greene for the COUNTLESS hours you have put into getting ready for this awesome event and to Teresa Harper, Kathy Swart and Shannon Hemmelgarn for your hard work in getting the book fair up and running. As I share every year, this is one of my favorite events, as it allows us to enjoy time together as a school community. It's a great kick-off to the season. I hope you will find time this evening to stop by and enjoy the fun. We will be here from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on our playground and field. It's going to be a perfect night for the event.
Wednesday we had early release, as you are aware. This important time gives our staff an opportunity to focus on our building/district goals and work for the year to challenge and support every student every step of the way. District wide our goal is to enhance a culture of learning through a shared understanding of instructional excellence and student growth with a focus on literacy. We value and appreciate the time we are allotted, as it does make a difference in our work with our students. Thank you!
Below are updates, dates and reminders for the week. Enjoy your weekend, and I hope to see you tonight!

Windermere Weekly Parent Update from PTO:
Fall Family Night – is tonight from 5:30 to 7:30! Looks like perfect weather for food, friends, crafts and games. We’ll also be selling Windermere and UA spirit wear if you feel like shopping.
Have you seen the amazing scarecrows? From Captain Underpants, Greg Hefley and Gru to Mrs. D and Mr. Hudson, it’s quite the lineup! The kids have been busy all day voting for their favorite. Thanks to all the families who made a scarecrow and/or chili for tonight, and to our army of volunteers. We couldn’t do this without you. Check the PTO update next week for a list of all contest winners. And if you see Monica Moyer or Lauren Greene running around like crazy tonight, be sure to thank them for putting on this amazing event!
Book Fair – The book fair will be open tonight from 5:30 to 7:30 during Fall Family Night. Stop by the library before it’s too late. Big thanks to Teresa Harper, Kathy Swart and Shannon Hemmelgarn for another great event. We’ll have another in the spring.
NutriSlice – The UA Nutritional Services dept. has added a great new software app called NutriSlice. Find a link on the district home page under nutrition. It allows families to view lunch menus, check out nutritional values and ingredient lists, and even filter out allergens. What a great tool for families with food allergies and nutritional concerns. I’m hoping it will help convince my daughter that a bag of Lays chips does not really count as a vegetable.
Box Tops Collection – Our Fall Box Tops For Education drive is coming the week of Oct. 9-13. Look for baggies and collection info coming home in your student’s backpack. Time to sort through the junk drawer and figure out where you put them all.
Chipotle Night – Burrito or bowl – how do you roll? Tuesday, October 10th is Windermere Night at the Kingsdale Chipotle. Show them your flyer (coming home soon) and we’ll earn a portion of the sale. Why not have one of each?
Hope to see everyone tonight!
