Windermere Parent Weekly Update from Mrs. Nolan:

What a great day we had on Friday celebrating the season!  Thank you to our staff and parents for making it a special day.  The smiles on our students' faces were priceless, as each child seemed to enjoy dressing up and seeing their friends and teachers dressed up, as well.  The weather was just perfect for our parade.

It's had to believe we are almost at our first trimester mark.  Officially, our first trimester ends on Monday, 11.6.17.  Thank you for attending conferences to talk with your child's teacher.  Our partnership is essential in maximizing learning for every child, every day.

I hope you enjoyed your weekend.  It's going to be a great week.

Julie

Windermere PTO Update:

Family Read-Together -    I hope your family is enjoying the family read-together as much as we are!  What a great excuse to turn off the noise and electronics and just read.  (On a side note, I now know that my refrigerator is making a strange noise that needs to be checked).  Anyway, due to the program’s popularity, please note this important change from Mrs. Hemmelgarn:

The response to our first Family Read-Together has been overwhelming positive!  Thank you for taking the time and effort to share this wonderful story with your families.  We are starting to look ahead to our concluding celebration.  Due to the fact that we had way more families sign up than anticipated, we are moving the event to UALC on Lytham Road.  Because of the location change, unfortunately we had to change the date of the event.  Please note it will no longer be on November 16, but rather Thursday, November 30th.  Please accept our apologies if you have a conflict that evening and can no longer attend.  The celebration will be from 6-8 PM.  We will have an official viewing of the movie adapted version of Winn-Dixie and all entries from all 10 raffles will be entered for the grand prizes!  The fourth graders who have done such a wonderful job of organizing this event are also planning on preparing some delicious treats for our party!  Please RSVP by 11/3 using this link!  Hope to see you there!

Library Pumpkin Contest – Speaking of the library, have you seen all the amazing pumpkins on display?  Families were challenged to turn their favorite book character into a pumpkin.  There are some amazing entries!  Check them out on the  Windermere Library Facebook Group.   Don’t worry, these pumpkins are painted, not carved.  No children were harmed in the name of literature.

Square 1 – What is Square 1?  No, it’s not a self-help book.  It’s a fun opportunity for you to buy your student’s artwork.  Details coming soon…

Harvest Parties  Thank you to all the room parents who planned the fun Fall classroom parties for the kids this afternoon!  The costume parade and parties are such a fun Windermere tradition.  I always feel much safer seeing all the Super Heroes who attend Windermere.  Thanks room parents - we appreciate all you do to make these events enjoyable for every single Hawk!

Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
