Windermere Weekly Parent Update 11.3.17
News from Mrs. Nolan:
Happy Friday, Windermere Families. November is here and it feels like the days are just FLYING by so quickly! Our first trimester is over on Monday. Our staff met this week for professional development, to look grade level by grade level and teacher by teacher at our classroom/student data so that we can continue to best support every student, every step of the way. Our continued partnership and collaboration helps us to maximize each day with our students.
I hope you and your family enjoyed Beggar’s Night this past Tuesday evening. Your generosity of donating candy to our troops is overwhelming. We were able to fill multiple boxes to share with Operation Gratitude. Thank you!
I hope you enjoy your weekend. Don’t forget to fall “back” this Sunday (set your clocks back an hour on Saturday night).
With excitement for our “travels” to Australia in a week (see below),
Daylight Savings Ends
End of First Trimester
No School for Students
Global Education Assembly at 12:30 p.m.
Wednesday, 11.22.17 through Friday, 11.24.17
Thanksgiving Holiday: No School for Students or Staff
Global Education at Windermere: We explore the whole world at Windermere! Every year (for over 20 years) we have a different focus continent--this year’s continent is Australia. We investigate the many cultures of each continent through their music and art, cultural games in physical education, literature, as well as animals and geographical diversity. In the fall we have a kick-off assembly to launch the year’s excitement, which will be next Friday, 11.10.17. We sing and dance, and try new art forms and techniques. It is such a great way for us to keep in mind that we are all “Citizens of the World!”
No School for students this Tuesday, 11.7.17: Please remember that we will be closed on Tuesday, November 7 as community members use most of our schools as Election Day polling locations. We encourage the adult members of our families to exercise their right to vote and share the importance of that action with their students!
Candy Collection: Again, a special thank you for donating your trick or treat candy to our troops!
Dismissal Change: If there is a dismissal change for your child, please call the office by 2:15 p.m. that day to ensure the message gets to your child and his/her teacher. Please do not email the teacher for same day dismissal changes, as they may not see the email until after school is out.
Windermere Weekly PTO Update
Family Read-Together - Because of Winn-Dixie, we will have fun, family celebration on Thursday, November 30th from 6-8 PM. Join us at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church (Lytham Rd.) for an official viewing of the movie adapted version of Winn-Dixie, prizes, snacks and lots of fun. Please RSVP by 11/3 using this link! Hope to see you there! No word on whether Opal, Franny or Gloria Dump will be able to join us, but I’m pretty sure the Preacher will be there.
Because of Giant Eagle, I just filled up my gas tank for 20 bucks.
Square 1 – What is Square 1? No, it’s not a new brand of toilet paper. It’s a square of paper that your student was given during art class to create their own masterpiece. In a few weeks, you’ll receive a catalog filled with items you can order featuring this design. Click on the pdf file below to learn more, and keep an eye out for your catalog coming home in backpacks soon.
Get Out the Vote! – Next Tuesday, November 3rd is voting day. You will be voting for UA Council, and several important issues including our School Levy – Issue 43. We encourage all Windermere parents to make your voice heard. Please vote!
