Important Updates (New Info)

Kudos to Your Children!  As you may know, we started our day Tuesday morning by summoning the fire department to investigate the odor of smoke in a second floor classroom.  All students and staff reported to the playground until we were given approval to shelter the students in the gymnasium.  Throughout this time the students were simply amazing.  Their patience and respectful behavior made a less than ideal start to the day a success.

PM Parking Lot Traffic: We are experiencing some back ups in the parking lot during after school pick up.  Please pull forward when cars in front of you exit, allowing more cars to get in the pick up line.  Thank you!

Testing Reminder: 2nd and 5th graders will be taking the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT)  and the IOWA Achievement Tests in Reading & Math as part of our gifted education screening process.  Testing will be spread out over 4 days next week.

No School Tuesday: Please remember that we will be closed on Tuesday, November 7 as community members use most of our schools as Election Day polling locations.  We encourage the adult members of our families to exercise their right to vote and share the importance of that action with their students!

Library Card Drive, Grades 3-5:  Great news!  Tremont is partnering with UAPL and launching a 3rd, 4th & 5th grade library card drive!  We are so excited for the potential impact this can have for our students and their future as readers and researchers.  By partnering with our awesome community library, students will have digital access to thousands of resources such as databases, ebooks, audiobooks, and print materials.  Please review the attached letter from the 3-5 teaching team and strongly consider one of the UAPL access options for your Lion!  Library Cards for grades 3-5

The entire process only takes a few minutes, and the district covers the expense for you. Once your form is processed, Central Office will contact you by the email you submitted, and ask you to come to CO at 1950 N. Mallway Dr. to get your Photo taken.

Nutritional Services: Families can now access the district’s new, easy-to-access digital lunch menu system! You can find a link to menus for the start of the school year on our website at www.uaschools.org/menus as well as directions on how to access these menus through an app for your phone or tablet. You’ll also find information about how to print the menus and how to learn more about nutritional content and allergens for menu items.

Food and Allergies:  In accordance with our district allergy policy, we are not allowing students to bring food to school to celebrate their birthdays.  Students can donate a game, or bring non-food items to pass out in class.  Thank you for observing our request as the safety of all students is our priority.
