Windermere Weekly Parent Update 9.9.17
Information from Mrs. Nolan:
I hope you are having a GREAT weekend!  Wow, what a beautiful day it has been today with the sunshine and cooler weather.  It should be a great evening for our hometown team to hopefully bring us a win!  Whatever you are doing this evening and the rest of the weekend, enjoy!
This past week, each building in the district, attended a cultural competency workshop designed to support our mission of challenging and supporting every student every step of the way.  The staff from Windermere who attended, will be sharing the lessons from this workshop with our colleagues during the professional development day on November 7.  We are excited to continue this important work, to learn from others, and to continue making Windermere the very best environment for ALL students, families and staff members.  We will continue to share with you our learning and our work, as parents are an equally important piece to this ongoing process and continued learning.
With a focus on helping to make sure EVERY child, parent and staff member at Windermere feels great about being here,
Julie

Information from PTO:

Walking Wednesday:  It was amazing to see the sidewalks packed with walkers last Wednesday. Our hole punchers were getting a good workout! Great job, Hawks. Hope to see you all again this week.  The supervised routes are posted on the PTO website. Please email Kelley Ching, walking Wednesday coordinator, if you have any questions.  thechingqueen@gmail.com

Fall ASE Classes:  We have a great lineup of After School Enrichment classes for your kids to enjoy!  Registration begins today and runs 9/15.  Visit www.uawindermerepto.org for a class listing, and to register.  We have several new classes including Yoga, Halloween Art, Running Club, Tumbling and more.  (We’re working on Halloween Yoga, but still no word.)   Classes run the week of 9/25 through 11/6.  Special thanks to Debi Gaupp (dgaupp@columbus.rr.com) and Lisa Murgas (lisalerdon@yahoo.com) for coordinating ASE.  Contact them with an questions.

Fall Family Night:  This year's FALL FAMILY NIGHT & DINNER is  Friday, September 29th from 5:30 - 7:30 PM.

There will be a SCARECROW CONTEST, CHILI COOK-OFF, HOT DOG/CHILI MEAL, PUMPKIN DECORATING, STRAW MAZE, S'MORES, GAMES, ARTS N' CRAFTS and more. Be on the look-out for detailed information in your children's backpacks next week.  In the meantime, begin searching the internet for the best scarecrow plans and chili recipes. Categories for the scarecrows include: School Spirit, Scariest, Sports Team and Best Dressed. Awards will be given for best scarecrow and tastiest chili winners!

City Barbeque Night:  Is it BBQ or barbeque or barbecue?   In any case, Wednesday, September 13th is Windermere night at City BBQ.  Present your flyer and our PTO will get a portion of the sales.  Look for it in your student’s backpack (potentially crumbled at the bottom).

PTO Meeting: Join us in the school lounge on Wednesday, September 13 at 6:30.  Superintendent Paul Imhoff will be there for a super-informative talk about the upcoming levy. (See what I did there?)  Mrs. Nolan will fill us in on what’s happening at Windermere, and we’ll update you on everything PTO.  Everyone is welcome.  Besides, what else could you possibly have to do on aWednesday evening? ;)
