Windermere Weekly Parent Update from Mrs. Nolan:
Happy first day of fall, although, it feels like it’s summer with the temperature! I hope you enjoy your weekend and can get outside to play and enjoy the end of summer.
I have had so much fun listening to so many students share with me how they are exhibiting the Windermere Way in other parts of their day. I hope your child is able to use the language at home with you about what it looks like, feels like and sounds like to be respectful, responsible and ready to learn! Make sure you take time to ask your child.
With excitement to still enjoy the warmth and sunshine,

You can go to this webpage for reference documents, sample score reports, and FAQs around STAR Assessments.
Y.E.S. (Youth Education for Safety) - Volunteers Needed
We are in need of volunteers for our important Y.E.S. program that is delivered to all First and Fourth Graders, as well as new students. The program, which focuses on empowering children by teaching self-assertion and advocacy, is directed by the Upper Arlington Elementary School Counselors and delivered to classrooms by dedicated parent volunteers.
Y.E.S. volunteers go through a fun, interactive, and informative half-day workshop and have a variety of dates and times to choose from to fit your schedule and you can do as little or as much as you'd like. Training dates are October 25, 12:30 - 2:30and October 26, 8:30 - 10:30, allowing for drop off or pick up of your school-age child. If you are interested in helping or want to find out more information, please email Katie O'Keefe (email@example.com).
PARENT BOOK TALK Our school counselor, Katie O'Keefe, and our Syntero clinician, Larysa Gilbert, will be facilitating a book talk for Windermere Parents. Based on a survey sent out by Katie in August, the majority of parents said they would like to read How to Talk so Kids Will Listen...And Listen So Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber. This will be an opportunity to meet other parents, learn ways to create relationships with your children (tots to teens) and establish an open dialog in a relaxed setting. The book talk will take place on October 17 at 7 pm. Location TBD. If you are interested in attending, please sign up so we can get an idea of how many parents to expect. We are looking forward to discussing this book with those of you interested in participating!
