Elementary Trimester Schedule
Beginning with the 2016-2017 academic year, Upper Arlington elementary schools will operate on a trimester schedule rather than the traditional four-quarter schedule used in grades six through 12.
The change was recommended by a team of elementary teachers that spent months exploring what type of schedule would best meet the needs of younger learners. The team found that trimester schedule benefits include:
More time for teachers to get to know students and their individual learning styles before reporting progress;
Divide instructional days more evenly throughout the reporting periods;and
Increase time between reporting periods to provide interventions and measure the impact of those supports.
Elementary students will attend school for the same number of days and on the same schedule as older students. Parents will also receive the same number of regularly scheduled progress updates and conference opportunities with teachers.
