Student Council, a club in which all of its members (~six students per grade level) must be elected to their respective positions, offers students a place to play an active role in representing their peers. The administration and community may also come to the Student Council members if they have any questions or concerns.
Student Council members meet regularly (usually in room 211) and sometimes work on weekends – attendance is required for all members. The group not only organizes social events, but also works to promote school spirit. Student Council plans and funds the Homecoming Dance as well as a similar Spring activity. Additionally, members participate in a service-oriented project (this has ranged from the Jingle Bell Run to a food drive for the Mid-Ohio Food Bank to a Prom Dress Drive), Spirit of Giving Week, and Adopt-a-Family during December. Student Council coordinates elections for the Homecoming Court and Class Officers. Members also choose the recipient of the Joe Conley Media Scholarship. Money raised during the year is used to fund various school projects and clubs. In the past, money has gone toward Administrative Professionals’ Day, Staff Holiday Breakfast, Academic Bowl, Blood Drives, Fitness Center, Capstone Grants, Ice Cream Socials, and hallway benches, to name a few.
