Admission to the Programme
The Upper Arlington International Baccalaureate High School resides in the UAHS community. The program begins in 11th grade and continues through grade 12. Students may begin planning for the program as early as their Freshman year.
The successful IB student is a self-motivated, independent, creative problem solver who is interested in getting the most out of their high school education. These students possess a strong work ethic and are interested in developing time management skills. Students from UAHS will be able to self-select into this program. The rationale for allowing students to self-select into the IB program reflects the nature of the UAHS community. Our students are strong in achievement and task commitment. As a group, they are intensely involved in their learning, extremely creative, possess high levels of energy and enthusiasm, and are able to persevere and to concentrate for long periods of time. This program is a logical extension of our school environment.
Students entering UAHS as Freshman will be given initial information about the program. In their Sophomore year, students will receive more information about the IB Program at UAHS and begin their planning process. Parents and students will meet in groups with the Head of School and the IB Coordinator. Each student will then meet individually with the IB Coordinator to plan their specific two year program. This information will be shared with the school counselors as well as with the parents of the students.
