School safety is an extremely important topic for many of us, and as the retired superintendent of Newtown, Connecticut Schools, home of Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dr. Joseph Erardi shares in that passion.

Upper Arlington Schools, the Upper Arlington Education Foundation and the Upper Arlington Public Library invite all community members to spend an evening reflecting on school safety with Dr. Erardi beginning at 7 p.m. on Monday, July 30 in the auditorium at Hastings Middle School, 1850 Hastings Lane.  There is no cost for admission.

During his time in Newtown, Dr. Erardi was faced with recapturing trust, dignity and pride for a school district that suffered unspeakable tragedy.  He also learned a tremendous amount about the types of proactive practices, safety plans and partnerships that are critical to keeping students safe.

Dr. Erardi has been honored as the 2017 Connecticut Superintendent of the Year, the 2016 Connecticut PTA Superintendent of the Year and serves as an executive officer with the American Association of School Administrators.
