2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration

Welcome to the Golden Bears Class of 2033!

Children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 30, 2020, are eligible for kindergarten during the 2020-2021 school year.  Families may follow the steps below to register their child.

Kindergarten registration for the 2020-2021 school year begins on Monday, February 10. Please read all of these steps before completing online registration for your incoming kindergarten student. If you have a current preschool student enrolled at Burbank Early Childhood School, please click here for directions on completing the kindergarten registration process.

If you have a student in grades 1 through 12 who will be new to the district for the 2020-2021 school year, please do not use the registration link on this page to fill out the online registration forms. Registration for students new to the district for the 2020-2021 school year will open on Monday, March 23.

1. BEGIN THE REGISTRATION PROCESS

(Approximately 60 minutes during business hours)

To begin the registration process, please use the link at the bottom of this page to access a short application form. The School Enroll Code required at the bottom of this application form is: UpperArlington.

You will enter your student's information and household information in order for our Registration Office to verify your attendance area based on our District Map & Attendance Boundaries. If you have any questions about your eligibility based on your address, please call (614) 487-5000.

After you submit this form, you will receive two emails: one that your application has been received and the second that your application has been approved.

Please note that these initial applications will be approved during business hours, Monday through Friday. If you submit your application outside business hours, the second email that your application has been approved will likely be received the next business day. If you do not receive these emails, please check your spam folder. If you still have not received the emails, or if you have difficulty accessing the online application form, please contact enrollment@uaschools.org.

Please allow for approximately 60 minutes within business hours to receive a third and final email that will take you to the next step to complete the online registration forms.

2. COMPLETE ONLINE REGISTRATION FORMS

(Approximately 45 minutes)

After receiving the third and final email, you may begin to complete the online registration forms in PowerSchool, our student information system. At the bottom of that email are the required credentials to add a new student to an existing PowerSchool parent account or to create a new parent account. These credentials are case sensitive.

Parents/guardians with an existing PowerSchool account: Log in to the Parent Portal using your existing username and password. Click on Account Preferences in the left navigation column. Click on the Students tab, then click the Add button.  A popup window will open.  Complete the requested information by using the access ID and password listed at the end of the email you received.

Parents/guardians new to PowerSchool: Click on the Create Account tab on the PowerSchool log-in page. You will be prompted to enter your name and email address and a username and password. To link your student to the account, scroll down to Link Students to Account and use the access ID and password listed at the end of the email you received.

Filling out the online registration forms
Once you are logged in to your PowerSchool parent account, select the Forms link in the left navigation column. Individually select and complete ALL of the required forms. Be sure to click the Submit button at the bottom of each form to save your work. You will need the following information to complete these forms:
  • Name, address and phone number of the last school (including preschool) your student attended.
  • The names and contact numbers of two emergency contacts other than parent(s)/guardian(s) — trusted local adults the school can contact if the parent(s)/guardian(s) cannot be reached.
  • Your student's detailed health information to be provided confidentially to the school nurse.
  • If applicable, custody information regarding your student. Supporting documentation will be collected later in the enrollment process.

Contemporary/Informal Instruction Models: In the online registration forms for your student, you will also be asked to identify your choice of two instruction models offered at the elementary level: Contemporary and Informal. If you choose the Informal Program, which is offered at Wickliffe Progressive and Barrington elementary schools, you will be prompted to fill out an Informal Program Choice Form.

AM/PM Kindergarten Preference: During the online registration process, families will be given the option to indicate a preference for morning or afternoon kindergarten. While we cannot guarantee placement preference, families who complete all online registration forms within the February 10 - February 28 priority window and complete their appointment at the Graf Center (Step 3) within the February 11 - March 3 priority window will have their preference for morning or afternoon placement considered and, in the event of high demand, will be entered into a lottery for their preferred placement. Please understand that to maintain balanced classes, the school principal will make final placement decisions.  Families will be notified of their placement on or before March 12.

Once all online registration forms have been completed, you will be prompted to choose a date and time to complete the registration process at the district's Registration Office at the Graf Center, 2020 Builders Place.
