This conceptual site plan for a rebuilt Upper Arlington High School:
- Builds a new high school building totaling approximately 398,000 square feet with a new four-story academic core along Zollinger Road for better access for first responders;
- Creates a secure main entry and a drop-off lane along Zollinger Road;
- Rebuilds Marv Moorehead Stadium and athletic spaces for school and community use, including a 10-lane natatorium with elevated seating for 500, a competition gymnasium with seating for approximately 2,000, and three multi-purpose athletic courts usable for all sports;
- Builds a comparably sized performance auditorium for school and community use;
- Creates on-site parking slightly greater than or equal to existing on-site parking;
- Educates students in the old building during construction so that trailers would not be needed; and
- Relocates some athletics temporarily during construction.
If Upper Arlington voters approve Issue 43 on November 7, the district would immediately launch a design phase that would involve any and all community members, staff and students who wish to participate in the design of the six school buildings in the first phase of the master plan. The district would also form a green team of community members to explore environmental best practices for the new or renovated buildings. Residents living in the closest proximity to the buildings would have the opportunity to join a neighbor committee used throughout the design and construction process to gather feedback and input on the project.
Construction would tentatively begin on a new Upper Arlington High School in early 2019.
A new Upper Arlington High School would tentatively open to students for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. The new high school site would tentatively be completed by the fall of 2022, with the old building demolished and the space developed into athletic field space.
