Kathryn Borghi Digital Library
The Kathryn Borghi Memorial Fund was established with the
Upper Arlington Education Foundation
by her family and friends in 1997 to honor the memory of Kathryn Borghi, a student with physical and learning disabilities who excelled in a classroom setting through the use of universally designed, accessible digital technologies.
This fund supports the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library in the Upper Arlington City School District. The digital library was formally recognized by the Ohio House of Representatives and dedicated on April 22, 2002, at Jones Middle School.
This digital library provides information in universally designed, accessible digital formats to provide access to every student. Individual collections may be set up within the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library to honor or remember a loved one.
For more information, please contact the Upper Arlington Education Foundation.
OverDrive
New to the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library for the 2017-2018 school year is OverDrive. This eBook and audio subscription service for schools and public libraries allows subscribing libraries to lend books in multiple digital formats to patrons.
Through a subscription paid for by an Upper Arlington Education Foundation grant, Upper Arlington Schools libraries will be able to provide access to books in multiple formats to all students in kindergarten through grade 12. Students will be able to log into OverDrive on any electronic device, including their school-issued laptops and tablets, and borrow books by downloading them to their devices and return them when finished reading.
OverDrive will further the mission set forth by the Kathryn Borghi Digital Library by increasing access to information and resources for both special education and general education students alike. OverDrive aligns with the principles of Universal Design Learning by providing information in multiple formats to reach students with varying needs and abilities.
