Windermere Kindergarten Program

Windermere Elementary School is excited to welcome the Upper Arlington Class of 2034 this fall! Founded in 1958, Windermere offers our K-5 elementary curriculum to students living within the Windermere attendance area — approximately bounded by Lane Road on the north, Reed and Fishinger Roads on the east, Ridgecliff and Wickliffe Roads on the south, and Route 33 on the west.

Beginning in the fall of 2021, Upper Arlington Schools will be launching a new all-day kindergarten program at all five elementary schools, including Windermere Elementary School. Our all-day kindergarten program will build on the high-quality academic program offered in the Upper Arlington Schools. All-day kindergarten will better meet the needs of our developing learners so that they are able to learn and grow academically, socially and emotionally. The full-day program provides more time to develop students’ skills in the core academic areas while also maintaining our focus on developing the whole child through social and emotional learning and growth.

Thank you to all of the families who joined us for the Windermere Elementary School virtual kindergarten information night on January 26. If you were unable to attend the webinar, you can view a full recording of the meeting and the meeting presentation below.

Children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 30, 2021, are eligible for kindergarten during the 2021-2022 school year.

The kindergarten registration window will open on Monday, February 8. We encourage families to complete the registration process between February 8 and March 10 for staffing and planning purposes.

Please visit our kindergarten registration website to learn more about upcoming kindergarten information nights, the registration process and what documents to prepare now before registration begins.

Kindergarten screenings are an opportunity for us to learn more about your child as a learner and a new member of our school community.

Kindergarten screenings for Windermere Elementary School students will be held on Thursday, August 5 and Friday, August 6 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. More details about kindergarten screening appointments for incoming students will come at a later date from your principal.

The Windermere Way

At Windermere, we are respectful, responsible and ready to learn. That's the Windermere Way. You can watch the video below for more about Windermere and the Windermere Way from students, staff members and community members.

At Windermere Elementary School, our school day is from 8:15 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. For our incoming kindergarten students, the school day will be structured to support them as they adjust to a full-day learning program. The school day will be built around the learning blocks for the core content areas - math, reading, writing, science/social studies - with time for play and “brain breaks” woven in throughout the day. Students will have time to work with teachers individually or in small groups to support their learning and reinforce or extend where needed.  Each week, students will also have a related arts block that rotates between music, art and PE.

The health office is a very friendly place for students at Windermere Elementary School. We are here for Windermere students, to help them with their medical needs as well as helping them adjust to the school environment.  Between Janice Walsh, BSN, RN, LSN, Windermere School Nurse, and Cara Boyle, BSN, RN, Windermere Clinic Nurse, there is a registered nurse assigned to the health clinic each day during school hours.

Please visit our District Health Office and Forms page to access needed health forms and our Windermere Health Office page for additional information about our services.
