Building Our Future

Building Our Future: Master Plan Construction Phase

Since the fall of 2015, the Upper Arlington community has come together to craft a long-term, financially sensible master plan for the district's aging schools and inform the design process for the six projects in the first phase of the master plan.
Beginning in the spring of 2019, Upper Arlington Schools is BUILDING OUR FUTURE for the Upper Arlington students and community of today and generations to come.

The Community's Master Plan

The first phase of the master plan will build a new Upper Arlington High School and renovate or rebuild all five elementary schools. The first phase also includes building athletic fields on the district-owned land behind Tremont Elementary School adjacent to Northam Park.
The new and renovated schools have been designed to provide additional space for the district's growing enrollment. Each project has been designed to have a logical place for a classroom addition, if needed, in the event that growth exceeds projections. As of October 2018, projections indicate districtwide enrollment growth of 20 percent, or approximately 1,250 students, over 10 years.
Construction began on the first phase of the master plan in the spring of 2019 on the high school site as well as the sites for Barrington, Greensview, Tremont and Wickliffe elementary schools. Construction on Windermere Elementary School will begin in the summer of 2020. View a tentative timeline for the projects.
After the completion of the first phase of the master plan, the Upper Arlington Board of Education and the community will need to revisit the second phase, including the two middle schools and Burbank Early Childhood School.

Virtual walkthroughs preserve memories of decommissioned schools

While construction has continued this spring on budget and on schedule on the first phase of the facilities master plan, the COVID-19 pandemic had forced the cancellation of community events to celebrate the history of three school buildings that were decommissioned at the end of the school year. In light of the cancellations, we are offering virtual final walkthroughs of Greensview, Wickliffe and Windermere.

February 2020 Construction Update: Work quickly progressing on all projects

This year, the Upper Arlington community will see the first of several significant milestones as we begin to open new and renovated learning spaces in the first phase of the facilities master plan. This began at Tremont Elementary School in mid-February, with the opening of the new kindergarten and media center addition and the renovated second floor classrooms. More +
