Well-Being, Prevention and Intervention

Student well-being work aims to help alleviate non-academic barriers to learning so that all students can flourish.  Student support includes services related to physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Health Clinic Services

Our school health clinic staff actively collaborates with students, staff, families and the community to promote every child's health and well-being. These highly trained professionals intervene with actual and potential health problems through direct and indirect care so that we may help reduce the spread of communicable diseases, increase attendance and place our focus on lifelong learning and health. Our district employs six certified school nurses and seven part-time, trained clinic aides to ensure schools have support at all times.

Mental & Emotional Health Services

Student mental health services are provided using a three-tiered system of support.  Students have access to school-based and school-linked resources. Tier 1 supports include schoolwide prevention, monitoring and interventions for all students.  Tier 2 supports include small group and individual skill-building interventions.  Tier 3 supports include more intensive services to address specific student needs.  Surrounding these tiers is the partnership between families and staff. Parents/guardians will be involved in any recommendations for personalized mental health support. Open communication and collaboration between families and staff catalyze student well-being and a sense of belonging.
