UA Safety Week Resources

Safety is a shared responsibility, and schools, the city, police, fire and families all play a role in helping students learn and thrive in a safe environment.

Every year, Upper Arlington Schools partners with the City of Upper Arlington and the Upper Arlington Police and Fire Divisions on our third annual Upper Arlington Safety Week. This is an opportunity to focus on important safety topics and come together as a community to support our students.

Safety Partnerships

In this video, Superintendent Robert Hunt, Ph.D., City Manager Steve Schoeny, Police Chief Keith Hall and Fire Chief Chris Zimmer share why it’s important for our community to work together to create a safe environment where students can thrive.

School Safety

In this video, Superintendent Robert Hunt, Ph.D., shares more information about our safety preparedness efforts in our schools and the response levels we use in the event of a safety concern.

Fire Safety

At school, students practice state-required fire drills each month. At home, families can take simple steps to be prepared. In this video from the Upper Arlington Fire Division, learn three essential ways to keep your family safe in the event of a fire.

E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety

In this video, Upper Arlington safety officials and a doctor from Nationwide Children’s Hospital share the very real dangers of e-bikes and e-scooters — and emphasize the importance of having conversations at home with your children before they ride.

Digital Safety

In this video, learn about the Lightspeed Relay system, which reviews websites and online videos on students' school-issued iPads — 24/7, at school and at home. Custodial parents/guardians can access this guide for instructions on how to access Lightspeed Relay and review their child's web activity in more detail.

Well-Being and Prevention

Our school counselors play a key role in helping students feel safe, supported and connected. Every student benefits from having a trusted adult they can turn to — someone who listens and cares. In this video, learn more about how we build emotional safety at every level: elementary, middle and high school.
