Girls swimming and diving wins second consecutive state championship

Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving clinched their second consecutive state championship — and 14th all-time — in Canton on February 22.

Senior Hayden H. brought home an individual championship, winning the 50-yard freestyle, and led her team to first-place finishes in the 200-yard medley relay alongside junior Abby O., junior Elise S. and sophomore Maren B. and the 200-yard freestyle relay alongside junior Ashton M., sophomore Riley H. and freshman Kiera P.

In the diving finals on February 19, junior Madison V. finished in fifth place, giving the team an early boost.

The boys swimming team finished their season in third place, with several top-five finishes including: Caden B. in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Sammy D. in the 200-free, Oliver H. in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Vince M. in the 200-yard freestyle. Upper Arlington also finished in the top five in three relays: the 200-yard medley, the 200-yard freestyle and the 400-yard freestyle.
