Golden Bear Reflections: Josh Brown, UAHS Class of 2024

For Josh Brown (Class of 2024), Upper Arlington High School was more than just a place to learn—it was a place to explore, experiment, and discover his passion for media production.

“I got involved with Kickin’ It Live and WARL Productions, handling the technical aspects for the shows,” Josh says. “As much as it’s a classroom, you’re given access to put on these shows, and it’s what we like to call a learning lab—you can mess up, you can fail, but you grow from that.”

Mentorship played a key role in shaping his path. “Amanda Fountain, our studio director, was instrumental in getting me into this field,” he notes, highlighting the impact of supportive teachers who encourage curiosity and hands-on learning.

Now a film and media production major at Capital University, Josh is building on that foundation while gaining real-world experience. “I work a lot with athletics there, doing media for broadcasts and social media content. I really get to experience both sides of production, and I’m excited for where that can take me,” he shares.

Josh also reflects on the leadership and opportunities that UA provided. “The opportunities UA gave me allowed me to step up and be a leader in every space I was in—in the classroom, in extracurriculars, in every area,” he says.

Looking ahead, Josh hopes to take his skills into the world of video broadcasting for sports, stadiums, and other large-scale events. “At least as of right now, I plan to go into video broadcasting for sports—wherever I can find a job around the country and work in even larger environments,” he explains.

For Josh, Upper Arlington Schools offered more than technical skills—it provided a space to learn, grow, and imagine what’s possible. And now, he’s ready to take that curiosity and dedication into the next chapter of his journey.
