Strength in Team Staff Spotlight: Ann Dominek, Nutritional Services
This year, we will be highlighting the people who contribute to the strength of our team by making our schools and our district such a special place for students.
Ann Dominek, food service worker, Upper Arlington High School
How do you contribute to your school/department and the school district as a whole? I operate the Bear Den at the high school and work in the kitchen. I serve breakfast, lunch and snack items to students and staff. I try to make the Den a warm, inviting place.
What inspires you / motivates you in your role? I enjoy seeing the students each day and getting to know them. I am inspired by all the people with which I work. It’s amazing seeing their collaboration and how they pitch in to help each other. It is a great place to work so I look forward to coming in to work each day. I used to work from home and have found that it’s nice being part of a team.
What is a memorable moment, or your proudest moment, in your 4 years with UA Schools? I love getting recognized by current and former students outside of school. I think it’s funny for them to see me in my “civilian” clothes, and when it dawns on them who I am. I also love the start of the school year, welcoming students back to a new year. It’s nice to see familiar faces and meet new ones.
What brings you joy outside of work? I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children. I like gardening, reading, thrift shopping, music and cooking. I particularly like to make a new recipe or try out a restaurant that I haven’t been to before.
