Strength in Team Staff Spotlight: Sarah King, School Age Child Care
This year, we will be highlighting the people who contribute to the strength of our team by making our schools and our district such a special place for students.
Sarah King, School Age Child Care
How do you contribute to your school/department and the school district as a whole? I contribute to SACC by helping to create an environment that welcomes all staff and students. I do everything in my power to make sure sites are operating safely, staff feel supported and students are having fun! I support the sites by maintaining staffing, offering in the field training, overseeing snack procedures, aiding in students' success, and fulfilling site’s visions for the program. I love being able to help offer a valuable program where families can feel good about knowing their child is safe at school and having a great time.
What inspires you / motivates you in your role? What motivates me is seeing how much joy students are having while in our program. SACC is such a fantastic place for students to explore different friendships, activities, and build community. I couldn’t imagine not seeing their smiling faces each and every day.
What is a memorable moment, or your proudest moment at UA Schools in the 11 years you have been with Upper Arlington Schools? I have many fantastic memories working with UA schools, my favorite moments are the daily interactions I have with students. The kids have a great sense of humor and are always making me laugh.
What brings you joy outside of work? Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Christian, and my family. I love to travel, explore new hobbies and try new restaurants.
What SACC Director Jeri Zurhorst has to say about Sarah: Sarah's role as a site coordinator is integral to the success of our very popular SACC program. Sarah impacts every student, family and community member she has interactions with. Her smile and positive attitude shines through, and she makes everyone feel welcomed from their very first day of SACC.
Daily, Sarah demonstrates our district values. She continues to “start with heart,” always putting the students first. She communicates with all staff at the sites and promotes a sense of “strength in the team” by helping the staff create an environment that is safe and welcoming for all students. Everyone is inspired by Sarah’s “contagious drive” to make SACC the best program it can be.
We are lucky to have her as part of the SACC family!
