Strength in Team Staff Spotlight: Trevor Stires, Transportation and Nutritional Services

In this biweekly staff spotlight, we will be highlighting the people who contribute to the strength of our team by making our schools and our district such a special place for students.

Trevor Stires, Bus Driver and Nutritional Services Cashier

How do you contribute to your school/department and the school district as a whole?  I drive a bus in the morning and afternoon for Hastings and Greensview kids, and I work as a cashier at Windermere in between. I just do my job the best I can.

What inspires you / motivates you in your role? The kids — I just enjoy what I’m doing.

What is a memorable moment, or your proudest moment, in the 3 years you have been with UA Schools? One of my students brought me Twizzlers one day. I think it was around Halloween. We had talked about Twizzlers, so she brought me some. She’s just a really good kid, and we had a good rapport with each other.

What brings you joy outside of work? It’s my family - just being home with my wife, Penny. It doesn’t take much. I’m just pleased to be with her. We have two daughters and grandkids, and all of our family lives in London (Ohio). It’s a huge family — 100-plus of us all live in London.

Reflections from Transportation Director Teresa Seward on Trevor: From the moment he arrived in Upper Arlington, Trevor has fully immersed himself in his role, approaching his responsibilities with pride, dedication and a strong sense of accountability. He manages his route with consistency and care, building positive relationships with students while maintaining clear, high expectations. The mutual respect he fosters is evident, as his students consistently demonstrate respectful behavior toward transportation staff — even in his absence.

Trevor goes above and beyond his primary duties by volunteering to support student trips, where his enthusiasm and genuine connection with students are evident. Additionally, he contributes to the district in a dual role, serving in Nutritional Services at Windermere Elementary School during his downtime from transportation — further demonstrating his commitment to the district and its students.

Trevor is a dependable, punctual and compassionate professional whose actions consistently reflect his strong character. He leads with heart, takes initiative and represents Upper Arlington with excellence.
