Three-peat! Girls swimming and diving wins third consecutive state title

Upper Arlington High School girls swimming and diving clinched their third consecutive state championship — and 15th all-time — in Canton on February 28.
Ten top-eight finishes powered the Golden Bears to the team championship. Sophomore Kiera P. brought home two individual championships, winning the 200-yard medley and 500-yard freestyle, and the Golden Bears also won the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free relays. Junior Maren B. was second in the 50 free and fourth in the 100 free, and junior Riley H. was fifth in the 200 individual medley and sixth in the 100 butterfly.
In the diving finals on February 25, junior Mira W. and senior Madi V. earned podium finishes as well, with Mira placing third and Madi in fourth.
The Upper Arlington boys swim team finished in fourth place at the state meet, only five points behind third-place Mason. The team relays led the way, with a fourth-place 200 medley relay, a second-place 200 free relay, and a second-place 400 free relay. The team also produced six top-eight finishes for individual swimmers, with Griffin O. coming in second place in the 100 free and third place in the 200 free, Sammy D. in fifth place in the 100 free and fourth in the 200 free, James B. in eighth place in the 50 free, and Oliver H. in fourth place in the 100 breaststroke. Over the course of the state tournament, the team produced 12 individual Top 10 UA all-time performances and broke two school records in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
