Two UA Schools educators honored for excellence in music education

It’s a high-note moment for Upper Arlington’s music program — as two orchestra educators have been recognized for their outstanding impact on students.

  • Jones Middle School orchestra teacher Vince Huzicka has been named the recipient of the 2026 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Young Music Educator Award. This statewide honor recognizes OMEA members in their first three to eight years of teaching who demonstrate excellence in music education through outstanding service, dedication and meaningful contributions to their programs and students.
  • Upper Arlington High School orchestra teacher Gretchen Wyder Zunic has been named the winner of the Manilow Music Teacher Award. She will receive $10,000 for the UA Orchestra program and be recognized by Barry Manilow at his upcoming Columbus concert.

These honors highlight the exceptional talent and commitment of our music staff — and the powerful role music plays across our schools.
