UAHS educator contributes to global IB curriculum revision

Linda Citino Carmichael, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Social & Cultural Anthropology teacher at Upper Arlington High School, was selected to an exclusive curriculum review meeting in The Hague, Netherlands. She joined a select global cohort of educators to help lead the official revision of the IB Social & Cultural Anthropology program.

As part of this high-level working group, Carmichael played a direct role in modernizing the academic framework for students worldwide. The collaborative sessions focused on reviewing and rewriting key components of the course, including the internal assessment, key concepts, and specific areas of inquiry that define the discipline.

The team was also tasked with redesigning the summative examinations to ensure they reflect the evolving landscape of global anthropology and modern pedagogical standards. This revision process is essential to maintaining the International Baccalaureate’s reputation for academic rigor and its emphasis on fostering critical thinking about human diversity and global issues.

Carmichael’s participation in this international summit highlights the expertise within the Upper Arlington International Baccalaureate Program and reflects the district’s continued commitment to global educational standards.
