Parent Newsletter: This Week

We continue to monitor COVID-19 data and to review our mitigation measures in partnership with the experts on the district’s Medical Advisory Team.  Beginning Tuesday, September 7, all of the elementary schools will adjust lunch procedures to ensure three feet of distancing between students while eating.  In order to accomplish this, we will be utilizing our current cafeteria space as well as additional areas in the building. In all of these spaces, we will continue to have assigned tables and seats, and all students will be supervised. The goal of this is to reduce the number of students who would need to quarantine due to an exposure at lunchtime.

Again, we will continue to monitor the COVID-19 data for our schools and our community and update our mitigation measures accordingly.

  • Attendance Reminders:

    • Please remember to email absence information to: [email protected] or call the attendance line to leave a voicemail: 614 487-5170, x 6060.

    • It is helpful to have notification of early dismissals for appointments, so we can locate students and have them waiting in the office for pick-up.

    • Also, if a student will be absent due to travel, family plans or other non-illness related reasons, a Planned Absence form must be completed for absences to be excused. The policy and form are available on the Tremont website in the Parent Links section under Important Documents. The completed forms can be turned in to [email protected] or dropped off in the office.

  • Important Drop-off and Pick-up Reminders:

    • Please do no park or drop-off in the bus line near the Kindergarten playground. That space is needed for buses.

    • Please remember to pull as far forward as possible before dropping your student off in the morning.

    • Just a reminder that there is no one on duty before 8am. If you drop your student off before 8am they will not be supervised by school staff.

    • Updates from Technology:
      • It has become more apparent that many of our district apps, programs and applications require the iPad operating system to be current in order for them to work.  Please follow these instructions to check your student’s iPad and update the iOS at home this weekend. The iPad should be up to iOS 14.7 Settings>General>Software Update
      • Canvas seem to eat up storage space on  your student’s iPad?
      • Ask the student to delete the Canvas app, then download it again and sign in. This app tends to keep copies of everything locally, and continually grows as you use it. Deleting the app will not have any impact on submitted work, but will clear out the storage on the iPad.
      • iPad Protection Plan Fee - Closing Window for Payment on September 3
        • Please remind all students and families that the $25 protection plan fee must be paid through SPSEZPay.com by Sept. 3.
        • If the fee is not paid by September 3 and an incident occurs, families will be responsible for the full cost of the repair or replacement. Prices that could be incurred if the protection plan fee is not paid are outlined here

Parent Newsletter: This Week

  • The first full week of school is finished and what an amazing week it’s been! We have loved having all our Tremont lions back in the building and it has been so much fun to get settled into our routines for the year and get to know one another better. Below is the link to the weekly update for our Tremont families. This year, all the Good Morning Tremont videos for the week will be included in the weekly update newsletter on Fridays.

  • Updates from Technology:

    • iPad Protection Plan Fee - Closing Window for Payment on September 3

      • Please remind all students and families that the $25 protection plan fee must be paid through SPSEZPay.com by Sept. 3.

      • If the fee is not paid by September 3 and an incident occurs, families will be responsible for the full cost of the repair or replacement. Prices that could be incurred if the protection plan fee is not paid are outlined here:

    • Reminder about iPad Chargers

      • Students were provided one charger and charging cable when issued their original iPad.

      • The charger, charging cable and stylus are not covered by the Protection Plan. If those components are misplaced, damaged or stop working for any reason, it is the responsibility of the family to replace them.  We recommend Apple or Apple MFi-Certified cables and 12 watt chargers.

    • Students having trouble signing into ClassLink?

      • In the iPad app, you must see the UA Logo on the sign in page. If our logo does not appear, tap the back button at the upper left, then search for and select our district. Now students will be able to sign in!

    • Apple TVs

      • Staff members and students are not permitted to log in to any district owned Apple TV with a personal Apple ID in order to access their own personal streaming services or files.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Monday, September 6:Labor Day

Friday, September 17th-24th: TSA Fall Fundraiser

Thursday, October 7th: Picture Day

Tremont Families update August 16, 2021

Parent Newsletter: August 16th, 2021

  • What an AMAZING week at Tremont! Our students are truly incredible and it is such an honor to have them here. We are so excited for a year of growth and learning with our Tremont Lions. Thank you so much - as always - for your support of our staff and students. We are so lucky to have a community like you!

  • Drop-off Reminders:

    • Reminder not to park in the Stop-Drop-and Go line. If you need to park, even for a short time, please do so in a parking spot in the lot. It is very important to keep traffic moving in this line.

    • Please DO NOT park in the bus line. We need that space to fit all of our buses in. If you need to walk your Kindergarten student in, please park in the parking lot.

    • From Student Services:

    • From Technology:

    • How to Get Help Elementary, Middle, High School, Online Academy and Staff

      • We have published a new resource to help students, families, teachers & staff find how to reach out for help when using digital devices and classroom technology. Visit How to Get Help in the UA Online Learning Resources site.

      • New Filtering Experience Rolling Out This Week on Student iPads

        • The new Relay filter will be quietly installed on student iPads over the next week. It’ll bring a number of improvements. Most notably, better YouTube filtering, building administrator access to student browsing, a “Parent Portal for at home management” and best of all decrypted filtering WITHOUT the proxy prompt (??much rejoicing??). We will be rolling out these features throughout the fall.   Our first step is to make sure all students have the filter app installed on the iPad. Please watch for communication as these features are rolled out.

        • The Relay Filter will install automatically on all iOS 14.4 and up devices. Anything under that version will still have the proxy until they update. Students that experience proxy issues will need to cancel the proxy prompt and run the iOS software update.  Then Relay will begin to install.  Users and staff will know that Relay is working by looking for the "Relay Smart Agent" app and checking that the client's email is there and that it says "Upper Arlington Schools".

        • As always if there are questions or concerns students can have their device checked while at school with one of the building technicians.

Tremont Families update August 9, 2021

Parent Newsletter: August 9th, 2021

  • We have updated our Parent Guidebook for this year! Here is the link and we hope it makes your life a little easier! Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have questions.

  • Please try to attend our Tremont Building Opening on August 15th at 2:30pm so your student can visit their classroom before arriving for the first of school.

    • Masks are highly recommended

  • Please make a strong effort to run software update on your iPad BEFORE returning to school.

  • Testing reports will be available for pick-up at Open House on August 25th or in the office until September 2nd. If they aren’t picked up by the 2nd, we will send them home with students on September 3rd.

  • The best way to sign into Seesaw is through ClassLink!

    • When students tap on Seesaw in ClassLink, they will see a Log into Seesaw button. This will launch the Seesaw app and automatically sign the student in without asking for a username or password, which avoids the chance to miss the Sign In with Google button.

    • Once you sign in through ClassLink the first time, the Seesaw app on the iPad will remember the account info. After that initial ClassLink sign in, students can open the Seesaw app directly as it will keep them signed in.

  • 5th Grade Breakfast is this Friday at 7:30 at the rear playground or in the cafeteria in case of inclement weather. We are so excited to celebrate our 5th graders!

  • Thanks to a USDA waiver, all students enrolled in Upper Arlington Schools (preK-12) will be able to receive free lunch this school year. At the high school and middle schools, grab-and-go breakfast will also be available for no charge, and a la carte options will still be charged to students’ EZPay accounts. We will communicate with families in advance of any changes to this temporary federal program.
