Listen Learn Lead process moving into the next phase

It’s officially spring, and that means that our schools are full of the energy that comes with warmer weather and the final grading period of the school year.

We have also appreciated the energy around our Listen Learn Lead community engagement process this spring.

During the month of March, the Board of Education launched this process to listen, learn and lead in an effort to help our schools and our community be the best they can be. Since then, we have hosted seven roundtable discussions, with dozens and dozens of parents, community members, students and alumni engaging in productive conversations about our schools. I’d like to thank everyone who has been involved in this process so far!

During the month of April, there will be an online survey that will help us explore the themes that emerged from the roundtable discussions. The survey will be open to everyone — students, parents/guardians, alumni, staff members and community members, and we hope to hear from as many people as possible. The survey link will be available on our website, www.uaschools.org/ListenLearnLead.aspx

Following the survey, a findings report based on all of the data points from this process will be shared with the Board of Education late this spring. This will serve as an important guide for the Board in determining future plans for the district.

As the Board of Education shared when launching the Listen, Learn and Lead initiative, this is a first step in an ongoing commitment to engaging our community. One thing that sets Upper Arlington apart is our community’s commitment to and support of education.  We know that we are at our best as a district when we are actively working with our community to plan for the needs of our students.

Please watch our website this month for the survey link, or call us at 614-487-5000 to request a paper copy, and look for more details to come in the future!

Quality Profile

Last month, all Upper Arlington households received our Quality Profile report, the annual accountability report that gives our community a clear and transparent look at what’s happening in our schools and with our students.

We believe it is critically important to continue to provide our community with the Quality Profile to measure our progress toward the priorities identified in our 2019-2024 Strategic Plan — whole learning, which is our core business of academics, and student and staff well-being. Continuous improvement — the idea of getting better at getting better — is the foundation of the plan, and you’ll see that threaded throughout the Quality Profile, just as it is threaded through everything we do in our schools.

You can learn more about the Quality Profile on our website at www.uaschools.org/qualityprofile.aspx
