Community groundbreaking ceremonies for 4 elementary projects set for May 19

Upper Arlington Schools will take the next steps to begin “Building Our Future” and implementing the community-developed facilities master plan for our schools with groundbreaking ceremonies for four elementary school projects on the afternoon of Sunday, May 19.

The schedule for Sunday, May 19 and locations of the groundbreakings are:
  • Greensview Elementary School: 12:30 p.m., on the blacktop behind the school
  • Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School: 1:45 p.m., on the blacktop near the field
  • Tremont Elementary School: 3:00 p.m., on the front lawn north of the kindergarten playground
  • Barrington Elementary School: 4:15 p.m., on the blacktop outside of the gymnasium

Each school’s celebration will include student performances and student ambassadors who will lead the ceremonial groundbreaking.

All students, families, community members and alumni are welcome!

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremonies will move into the school gymnasium. Please check our website and the district Facebook and Twitter accounts for any updates on Sunday afternoon.

In April, students, families, alumni and community members came together for a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction on the new Upper Arlington High School, the first project in phase one of the facilities master plan. A groundbreaking ceremony for Windermere Elementary School, the final project to get underway in the first phase of the master plan, will follow in the spring of 2020.

All six projects in the first phase of the master plan remains on schedule and on budget as the community prepares for the next groundbreakings. The first phase projects will build a new Upper Arlington High School and renovate or rebuild all five elementary schools.

The new and renovated schools have been designed to provide additional space for the district’s growing enrollment. In the event that growth exceeds projections, each project has been designed to have a logical place for a classroom addition, if needed.
