Dear 6th Grade Families,
Welcome to middle school! At this time, interscholastic athletics at the middle school level is only offered to 7th and 8th grade students, but there are some VERY important dates to add to your calendar NOW if your current 6th grader has any interest whatsoever in playing a sport for a UA middle school team next year. Much more information will follow in the Spring of 2023, but please add the following to your calendar now:
FEBRUARY 27, 2023
6th Grade Sports Orientation, 6pm UAHS Performing Arts Center
This meeting is mandatory for every athlete and one parent/guardian. Attendance is a requirement for participation in any sport as a 7th grade student in 2023-24.

Deadline to Register for 2023-24 FALL SPORTS
Look for emails in April/May that detail the registration process. Register on 8to18 by the deadline and coaches will reach out through 8to18 shortly after. Team numbers, schedules, etc. will be determined based on the number of registrants we have on June 16th.
JULY 15, 2023
Deadline to Turn in Physicals- DO NOT SEND TO THE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
Hard COPY to be turned into your school’s Athletic Trainer (McKenna Teague- Hastings, or Megan Giesige- Jones)- more information to come on physicals in April/May.
AUGUST 1, 2023
ALL FALL SPORTS- Mandatory Practice/Tryouts Begin
If your child plans to participate in a Fall sport (Cross Country, Field Hockey, Football Cheer, Football, Golf, Girls Tennis, Soccer or Girls Volleyball), do not plan vacation in August. All OHSAA fall sports start mandatory practice and/or tryouts on August 1st, every year. If your child misses tryouts, they will forfeit their ability to participate.
