Dear Tremont Families,

This has been another beautiful week at Tremont! Thank you for your ongoing support. We continue to see children staying “On Track” in the hallways, on the playground and in the cafeteria. Your conversations at home help us create consistency with our common language, common routines and expectations. We appreciate you!

Please see the following updates that are happening here at school and across the district this month.

Enjoy the weekend!

  • International Family Gathering

    • The purpose of the district’s International Parent Group is to support our international families. We will discuss a variety of topics, and provide resources related to school and the Upper Arlington community. In addition, we hope this group provides an opportunity for families to connect. Your child does not need to receive EL services for you to attend our meetings. We typically meet 3-4 times during the school year. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Cynthia Redman or Jean Allocco. We look forward to seeing you on Friday, September 16, 8:30am-10:00am in the Tremont Cafeteria!

  • Walk-A-Thon

    • TSA will be sending information shortly regarding all of the details regarding our Tremont Walk-A-Thon on September 23rd! It is shaping up to be amazing!

The Stand Project:

  • TheStand Project is an Upper Arlington community action project focused on the prevention of substance misuse and committed to standing by students and families in finding help. Check out some of our fall programming in the works:

DIGITAL SAFETY FOR PARENTS

OCT 3 | 6:30-8PM | Hastings Middle School Auditorium

Do you ever feel “out of touch” when you try to parent your child in the Digital World? Chances are, you’re not alone. We are offering a one-evening digital safety course for parents of school-aged children.

The course will be taught by digital safety experts from the Upper Arlington Police Division. With over 25 years of experience in the topic, officers will help you develop a foundation of knowledge which will help you in making difficult parenting decisions in the Digital World. The class will help you identify the risk factors that may be present in your child’s digital practices and help you reduce or remove those safety concerns. In addition, officers will help you decide when to let your child handle a problem themselves, when to step in yourself and when to seek outside help. As always, questions are welcome!

COMMUNITY NALOXONE TRAINING

OCT 25 | 6:30-8PM | UA Municipal Services Center

Community members age 14+ are encouraged to attend this FREE training led by Franklin County Public Health and its community partners. Attendees will learn about the different types of opioids, signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose, and how to administer naloxone (also referred to as Narcan). At the completion of the training, participants will receive a free naloxone kit.

REGISTER NOW to attend.

OPERATION STREET SMART

NOV 9 | 6-9PM | UAHS – Mirolo (Black Box) Theater

The Stand Project and UAHS, in collaboration with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, invite parents of all ages to our fall presentation of Street Smart. This program will offer attendees with a wealth of information about alcohol, vaping, marijuana, prescription medications, cocaine, heroin, mushrooms, methamphetamines, LSD, and fentanyl - just to name a few. Our school resource officers also will be on hand to educate about current trends in substance use within the UA community.
