The Upper Arlington Education Foundation (UA+Ed) has a long history of providing meaningful learning experiences for students and for providing donors opportunities to make a lasting impact on education in the Upper Arlington community.

In the nearly 40 years since it was founded in 1985, UA+Ed has supported generations of Upper Arlington Schools students through grants, scholarships and awards that go above and beyond the school district’s budget. These opportunities fully support the district’s strategic priorities of whole learning and student and staff well-being, as well as the UA+Ed’s vision of creating an inspired and thriving community of learners.

In 2022 alone, UA+Ed approved 77 grants and gave over $155,000 — impacting every student in every school. These grants have supported all facets of the Upper Arlington Schools experience, including STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics); literacy; the visual and performing arts; athletics; and co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

Some examples include equipment for computer science and STEM learning opportunities for multiple grade levels; “buddy benches” and other initiatives that support well-being; a new digital kiosk at Jones Middle School that honors the history and legacy of alumni; author visits and motivational speakers; and scholarships for the 8th grade Washington, D.C., trip.

“This is an incredible time to be part of the Education Foundation, as we continue to grow both in the number of grant requests from our staff and the amount we have given to support those meaningful opportunities for our students,” said Alice Finley, executive director of UA+Ed. “We are grateful for the continued support of our alumni and our community, and we invite everyone to join us for our favorite annual FUNdraiser to continue to support our students.”

On the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, UA+Ed will host its 17th Golden Bear BASH! from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. September 3 at the Amelita Mirolo Barn. This adults-only event raised $130,000 last year, and proceeds go to supporting the UA+Ed’s mission of providing meaningful opportunities for students.
