Dear Upper Arlington families,
I hope you are enjoying spring break and getting some much needed time to recharge as we head into the final quarter and trimester of the school year. I have some exciting news to share with you about an optional and free, at-home COVID-19 testing program for students.
As I mentioned in my last family update, our schools had a significant increase in positive COVID-19 cases in recent weeks, leading to a large number of quarantines. To keep our students safely in the all-in learning mode, we all need to do everything we can to stay safe and reduce the spread of COVID in our community. The end of the pandemic is in sight, but it isn’t here yet.
After consulting with our Medical Advisory Team and Franklin County Public Health, we will be offering free at-home COVID-19 rapid test kits for students as we return from spring break. This is optional, and you can sign up to pick up test kits at the link included below. We recognize that this isn’t a perfect system, but it is a proactive way to identify positive cases - which may be totally asymptomatic - before those students return to school. Catching things early can reduce transmission and the need for quarantines.
The tests will be offered for drive-through pick up on Monday, March 22 at the following times and locations.
8:30 until 11:30 a.m.
Hastings Middle School
1850 Hastings Lane
(Staff parking lot in front of Reed Road Water Park, enter off of Hastings Lane)
1 until 4 p.m.
Jones Middle School
2100 Arlington Avenue
(Staff parking lot in front of Devon Pool, enter off of S. Mallway Drive)
Please CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION and CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE AT-HOME TEST KITS. This form must be completed in advance of arrival at the pick-up sites. Remember that the tests will be completed at home, so students do not need to be there for pick-up.
Thank you for your continued partnership in reducing the spread of COVID-19 in our community and in helping us ensure the health and safety of our students and staff.
