Upper Arlington Schools family update - April 30, 2021

Dear families,

Hello, everyone, and happy Friday! I hope you’ve had a great week!

I have a short update for you today. You can see my video update here.

Class of 2021 celebrations

We received word this week from Ohio State University and public health officials that we’ll be returning to the Schottenstein Center to celebrate the Upper Arlington Class of 2021 at the end of May. We are incredibly excited to celebrate this special class of seniors in person with the needed health and safety precautions in place.

The Class of 2021 has also expressed interest in having a parade - similar to the event held for the Class of 2020 - immediately following the graduation ceremony. Our high school team is exploring the possibility, and we’ll share more details as we have them.

We are also looking forward to safely celebrating safely important end-of-year milestones with our fifth grade and eighth grade classes. We are so very proud of all of our students for their accomplishments this school year and always!

COVID-19 vaccination clinic

Next week, we are looking forward to again partnering with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to host the second-dose COVID-19 vaccination clinic on May 6th for our high school students who are ages 16 or older. As a reminder, please be sure to submit a copy of your student’s vaccination card to our COVID nurse coordinator, Gina Rancitelli, or high school nurse Laurie Long once your student is fully vaccinated.

COVID-19 update

The number of cases in our district is remaining low and holding steady, and our quarantine numbers have gone down significantly. This is all great news. All of the precautions we’re  taking in our schools and out in the community are working - so please, please, please keep it up!  You can see our latest update to our COVID-19 data dashboard here.

BECS registration reminder

Our Burbank Early Childhood School (BECS) is currently accepting preschool applications for children ages 3 to 5 years for the upcoming 2021-2022 school year! Next year BECS will continue to follow rigorous health and safety protocols while simultaneously providing children with an unparalleled education. Call 614-487-5155 to learn more about enrolling your child.

I hope you have a great weekend, and as always, go Bears!

Sincerely,

Paul Imhoff, Ed.D.

Superintendent, Upper Arlington Schools
