Share your thoughts! Listen Learn Lead community survey now open

A community roundtable

During the month of March, the Board of Education launched a community engagement process to listen, learn and lead in an effort to help our schools and our community be the best they can be. The process began with a series of roundtable discussions, involving more than 150 parents, grandparents, staff members and residents of our community and nearly 200 students.

“We have seen a lot of energy in our community around our Listen Learn Lead process,” Board of Education President Lori Trent said. “It’s been exciting to see community members, staff members and students engaged in conversations about their vision and priorities for the future of our schools.”

“The end result of all of these roundtable discussions is that we heard from a wide range of people with different perspectives and interesting ideas on topics like academics, well-being, school finances and communication, and all of those viewpoints helped shape the next phase of our engagement process,” Trent said.

The next step in the Listen Learn Lead community engagement process is an online survey based on the themes that emerged from the roundtable discussions on five topic areas stemming from the district’s strategic plan: our district’s strengths; whole learning (academics); student and staff well-being; finances; and communications.

The survey is open to parents, community members and staff members, and there is also a student-specific path of the survey. It will take approximately five minutes to complete.

The survey will remain open through Wednesday, May 11.

Paper copies of the survey may also be requested by calling the district office at 614-487-5000.

Following the survey, a findings report based on all of the data points from this process will be shared with the Board of Education. The report, which will be posted on the Listen Learn Lead webpage, will serve as an important guide for the Board in determining future plans for the district.

“As we shared when we launched this process, this is a first step in an ongoing commitment by the Board of Education to engage our community,” Trent said. “There will be more opportunities going forward — because we are better when we are all working together. We are truly fortunate to live in a community that is so committed to supporting the education of our students.”
