Upper Arlington High School swept the water polo state championships, with back-to-back wins for the boys and girls teams on Sunday, October 31.
In the state final match at Cincinnati Princeton, the boys team edged past Toledo St. Francis 11-10. The UA girls team followed up just a couple of hours later by defeating the Cincinnati Mavericks 9-5.
It is the third consecutive state championship for the girls, who won the 2020 state championship in May after their season was postponed to the spring due to COVID-19. The girls team has won 19 state championships overall, including seven in the past nine years.
It was a triumphant return to the top for the boys team as they claimed their first championship in nine years. They have won six state titles overall.
