Windermere Weekly Parent Update

Happy Friday!!! Today was a great day, as our primary grades (k, 1 and 2) started their ELEMENTARY EXPLORATIONS time with an amazing group of educators, we would like for you to meet! As I shared in last week’s update, each week I will highlight a different team at Windermere and their VBOs for their respective team, in addition to how they intend to apply their Values, Beliefs and Outcomes in their daily teaching with our Hawks. We are so excited to welcome this new team to our school. Every letter day this team will work in a different elementary building to support students. Windermere has this team on B days throughout the year. Every other week your child will have approximately 70 minutes of exploration time. The purpose of Exploration Time is to support our students through exploring and enhancing grade level curriculum, social emotional learning, STEM learning, and much more. I will continue to share information about what is happening during Exploration Time.
During this bi-weekly exploration time, our classroom teachers will be meeting with their grade level team, our MTSS lead and me to focus on our building focus to challenge and support every student, every step of the way. Through professional development and also collaboration and conversation, we are learning and delving into MTSS (multi-tiered system of supports). During these sessions we are learning and working to collect, organize and analyze student, class and building data to stretch, enrich and target areas of opportunity in the areas of academics, behavior and the social/emotional needs of our students. Ultimately, this is to ensure we are challenging and supporting the whole child.

Lunchtime Group Opportunity - Mindful Movement: We are excited to introduce a lunchtime program for students in grades 1 - 5 starting this month! Mindful Movement is a new opportunity for students to have a movement break during half of their lunch recess time a couple of times each month. Parents must sign their child up to participate. We have room for 15 students in grades 1/2/3 and 15 for students in grades 4/5. You can find more details on the permission form, due by 9/17.
Parent Teacher Conferences: Windermere’s conferences are on Thursday, 10/21/21 from 12-7:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, 9/26/21 from 4-7:30 p.m. Please make sure you schedule a time with your child’s teacher! Our two way, proactive communication is essential in our partnership. Thank you in advance for being a part of these important evenings.
Planned Absences: Please make sure you have a planned absence on file in the office if you know your student will miss school for more than a day. Email Ms. Maria ([email protected]) for a form.
Student Illness: If your student is staying home sick, please list symptoms of illness on your email or VM messages to ensure a COVID test is not necessary to return to school. Also, please email [email protected] in addition to your students' teacher.
Student Dismissal Changes: If your student has a dismissal change during the school day, please call the office 614-487-5060 to ensure the message gets to your student and their teacher. Teachers don’t always have a chance to check email during the school day.
Lost and Find: Our lost and found table is located beside the main office. Please remind your students to check this table for any lost items.

Windermere PTO Update

What a great week at Windermere! We know that lots of Hawks were excited to play on the newly-installed playground equipment. And it was wonderful seeing so many Hawks walk to school on Walking Wednesday. We can’t wait to see you all on the sidewalks next week in this beautiful fall weather!
PTO Membership Drive
You can pay your dues online here to support our school community! PTO family membership dues are $25.00 and classroom extracurriculars (field trip) fees are $20.00/child for grades K-4th and 5th grade is $35/child.
We would appreciate dues paid by today!
Fall Mum Sale
Our fall mum sale started last week and runs through September 19th. Mums will be ready for pick-up on September 27th.
You should have received a catalog in your child’s backpack last week and all sales will be completed online again this year. Please reach out to PTO ([email protected]) or Sarah McCaig ([email protected]) with any questions.
ASE - coming soon
Sign-ups will begin soon for ASE classes. We will post here, on our PTO website and class emails. Classes will be October 4th - November 12.
