Hi Tremont Families! We can’t believe it is already 2022! We are settling into an already busy and fun year here at Tremont and have loved getting to welcome our students back to the building this week. We have some updates for you today as we get up and running so be sure to click below to read this week’s Parent Newsletter. Wishing you a wonderful and restful weekend!

  • PowerSchool

    • January 14-16 META will take our PowerSchool server off-line at 5pm on Friday, January 14. Due to the amount of time needed for the upgrades and miscellaneous server maintenance you should plan to NOT have access to PowerSchool for the duration of the weekend. This includes students, staff and parents.

  • Lunch Line:

    • As we work through occasional shortages, we wanted to give you a heads up that your students may experience longer lunch lines, menu changes, or a reduction of lunch options for a very short period of time. So far, we have been successful in keeping lunch the same, but we wanted to put this on your radar as families just in case. We are so thankful for the hard work of our Nutritional Services staff!

  • Updates from the Media Center:

    • Hello from the Media Center!

    • Now that we are back from winter break, our number one priority is helping your child find great new books to read. To that end, Sunday afternoon you will receive an email notification listing all items currently checked out to your student. We ask that you please help your child look for any  Tremont Media Center books at home and return items checked out before winter break. If you find that there is an error in our report please let us know!

    • Thank you in advance for helping us maintain our beautiful collection.

    • Mrs. Bugnitz & Mrs. Buttress

  • Just a reminder to be sure that the pick up options for you student(s) are included in the contacts section in PowerSchool.

  • Refresher of our Attendance Policy:

    • The following is a friendly reminder about our attendance policy. It is important when reporting absences to give enough information, so we can determine excusal.   I hope you find this information useful

    • Reasons for an Excused Absence:

  • Illness of the child

  • Appointment with a health care provider

  • Illness in the family necessitating the presence of the child

  • Quarantine of the home

  • Absence due to a student's placement in foster care or change in foster care placement of any court proceeds related to the student's foster care status

  • Observation or celebration of a bona fide religious holiday

  • College visit (up to 3)

  • Absences due to the student's homeless status

  • Death of a relative

  • Medically necessary leave

  • Emergency or other set of circumstances in which the judgment of the Superintendent of Schools constitutes good and sufficient cause for absence from school

  • Service as a precinct officer at a primary, special or general election

  • To help ensure accuracy, please be as specific as possible when reporting absences. Phrases such as “personal reasons” or  “overslept” cannot be connected to one of the allowable excused absence reasons above.

Families are permitted up to ten (10) instances to call their child off school for a health or mental health reason, per school year, without a note from a licensed health provider; these are excused. When ten instances are surpassed, a note from a provider is required to be excused.

Please continue to use the pre-planned absence form for any situations that fall outside of the above excused reasons.  The district can approve a limited amount of hours for pre-planned absences.

To submit an absence at Tremont, please email [email protected] or call (614) 487-5170, ext 6060.

Thank you in advance, as we work together to ensure your child’s attendance records accurately reflect the reason for their absence.
