Family Update- May 22, 2022
May 22, 2022

Dear Families,
We had quite a lot of fun at Jones last week - Washington, DC, 6th grade party, spirit week for mental health awareness, and Kona Ice Courtesy of The Stand. As adults we are grateful to be bringing back these fun and important experiences for students. They are some of our best days!

Please join us in encouraging students to finish strong academically. We want them to be proud of their final grades and to feel confident and ready for the challenges of next year. Reach out to your child's teacher if you have concerns in any specific area. Please take note of information below for students who will take Physical Science or Honors Physical Science next year as well as added Summer Academy offerings.

We hope you and your families are enjoying the weekend!

Warm Regards,
Aimee C. White
Heather Markward

- The end of the 2021/22 school year is near! We are proud of our JMS students and their achievements, especially their kindness and positively.  Our PAW (Positive Attitude Wins) Day will celebrate these accomplishments on Tuesday, May 31st with day-long collaborative games and activities for students with their advisories. PAW day is a great day for students to work with their fellow advisory members and have fun while learning to compete in a positive and collaborative manner.

Advisories will eat lunch together outside during PAW day.  We encourage all students to pack a lunch on this day and we will also have cafeteria options available for those that prefer to order pizza from the cafeteria.

We look forward to a fantastic PAW day with our students.

8th GRADE CELEBRATION -
We will celebrate our graduating 8th graders on Wednesday, June 1st.

FEDERAL PROGRAM PROVIDING FREE MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS ENDING -

END OF YEAR AND 2022-23 STUDENT DEVICE INFORMATION -
All students, except graduating seniors and students withdrawing from UACS, will retain their iPads over the summer of 2022. If a family would prefer that we hold a student’s iPad over the summer months, please have them reach out directly to [email protected].

Students that are withdrawing from UACS at the end of the school year need to turn in their iPad, case, and charger to the main office of their school or The Technology Department at The Graf Center. When buildings receive information about a withdrawal, it is the building's responsibility to collect all outstanding books and technology devices from the family.

The following information pertains to the start of the 2022-23 school year:

  • Grades 1-8 - Students retain their devices from the 21-22 school year for continued use.

  • Grade 9 - Students will swap the iPad 6 from their 8th-grade year (21-22) for an iPad 8 during the Freshman First Day in August 2022.
