Board of Education update on superintendent search

As the search for the next superintendent of Upper Arlington Schools continues, Board of Education President Lori Trent shared an update at the December 13, 2022 Board of Education meeting and commented that the search is going “very well.”

“It is an interesting time to be running a superintendent search,” she said. “There are fewer candidates out there than there were a decade ago. These candidates are also expecting an interview process that is more similar to what you see in the business world.”

The Board of Education continues to work with Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) in the search, and Trent hopes to have more updates for everyone in January.

Following the new year, Kathy Jenney, Ed.D., the current associate superintendent of human resources and operations, will take over as interim superintendent after Paul Imhoff, Ed.D., retires from the superintendent position. Dr. Jenney is the first woman to serve as the leader of the Upper Arlington Schools.

“We are really fortunate to have Kathy with us for the next several months,” Trent said. “Not only is our district in great hands, but it is wonderful to hear of all the work she is leading to ensure a smooth transition to the next superintendent.”

Dr. Jenney plans to retire at the end of July 2023 after more than three decades in public education.
