Interim position finalized; superintendent search continues

As the search for the next superintendent of Upper Arlington Schools continues, the Board of Education has finalized that Kathy Jenney, Ed.D., the current associate superintendent of human resources and operations for the district, will serve as the interim superintendent through the end of July 2023.

Dr. Jenney will step into the interim role in January when current Superintendent Paul Imhoff, Ed.D., retires. She will be the first woman to serve in the role of superintendent in the history of Upper Arlington Schools.

“I am thrilled that Kathy is willing to take on this role on a temporary basis,” said Board President Lori Trent.  “Between her previous experience as a superintendent and her 10 years of leadership here in the district, she is more than qualified to keep the district running smoothly during this transition period.”

Trent shared that the search for the next superintendent of the Upper Arlington Schools continues, as search firm Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates (HYA) works to identify interested and qualified candidates that align with the leadership profile for Upper Arlington Schools.  Trent also shared that the Board of Education will provide additional updates to the community as they are available.

When the new superintendent is selected, Dr. Jenney will be available to assist in the transition up until her retirement on July 31, 2023.

“This feels like the right way to wrap things up,” said Jenney.  “It really has been an honor to work in Upper Arlington Schools, so I’m happy to be able to assist as the next superintendent is selected and gets settled in.”
