December Construction Update: Great progress heading into 2020
All five projects underway in the first phase of the Upper Arlington Schools facilities master plan remain on schedule and on budget as we approach the start of 2020. The contractors continue to make great progress on the four elementary sites as well at the new Upper Arlington High School.
New Upper Arlington High School project
On the high school site, structural steel is going up in the new theater and masonry walls are being built throughout the school. Contractors continue to work on under-slab rough-ins for plumbing and electric in advance of pouring concrete floors in the academic and athletic areas of the building.
Barrington Elementary School renovation and addition
At Barrington structural steel work continues, with work moving from the second floor to the roof this month.
New Greensview Elementary School project
Contractors are finishing up the roof system, and drywall will soon be hung in the classroom areas of the building.
Tremont Elementary School renovation and addition
Workers are beginning to hang drywall in the renovated second floor classrooms. Drywall will be going up in the addition soon, too.
New Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School project
At Wickliffe the structural steel is progressing in the academic areas of the building, and the roof over the gym, cafeteria and office area is substantially complete.
Construction Timeline
June 2020: Demolition of the current Windermere building will begin to make way for the new school. The old Wickliffe will serve as transitional space for Windermere students for the 2020-2021 school year.
Fall 2020: The new Greensview and Wickliffe Progressive elementary schools and the renovated Tremont Elementary School will be completed and open to students.
Fall 2021: The new high school and the new Windermere and renovated Barrington elementary schools will be completed and will open to students. Work will continue on the high school site to examine the area where the Pleasant Litchford cemetery was located, demolish the old building and develop athletic fields.
Fall 2022: The new high school site and first phase of the community-developed master plan will be completed.
