Upper Arlington Schools family update - May 27, 2021

Dear families,

Hello, everyone, and happy last day of the school year! You can watch my video update here.

THANK YOU and can’t wait to see you again!

As this school year comes to an end, I want to again say thank you for everything you have done to support your students since last August. There were a lot of challenges this year, and while we’ve enjoyed every minute we’ve had with our students in our schools, one of the things we’ve missed the most is you. We’re incredibly blessed here in Upper Arlington to have so many parents and guardians who generously give their time by supporting our students by volunteering inside our classrooms and schools, on our athletic fields and in the arts and in extracurriculars. We’re so excited about being able to provide those valuable opportunities this coming school year. And we want you to have a great summer, but we also can’t wait to welcome you and your students back into our buildings this fall and reconnect - face to face.

Save the date - grand opening celebrations

And that brings me to what I mentioned in my email last week - we’re excited to welcome you into our new high school and all of our completed elementary schools on Sunday, August 15 for a grand opening celebration and open houses. This won’t be your only chance to come inside these buildings, but it will be a great opportunity to see these beautiful new spaces in person before the school year starts.

Sneak peek into the new high school

You can watch a guided video tour of the new high school here — things are changing every day inside this building, and it’s incredible to see the progress since we filmed this tour!

Summer BRIDGE registration

Registration is NOW open for our Summer BRIDGE to Achievement and Well-Being program! We have a number of great opportunities for students to stay engaged with their learning and their teachers and peers. Visit www.uaschools.org/SummerBridge.aspx for all the details!

Board of Education updates

As you’re aware, the state plans to lift most health orders as of June 2. We have scheduled a special meeting of the Board of Education for 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 28 at the district office, 1950 North Mallway Drive to update our mask policy and protocol accordingly. You may view the agenda here. While there is no public participation in a special Board meeting, you may view the live-stream of the meeting on our district YouTube channel.

We have also decided to move our meetings back to the city building, where they were located prior to the pandemic. The June 8 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers, 3600 Tremont Road.

Family updates in the summer

This is my final weekly update for the year. This summer, we’ll continue to reach out with updates but you’ll hear from us less frequently. Be sure to look for important reminders for the upcoming school year - including back-to-school forms, which will be coming to you in July.

I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing summer! And as always, go Bears!

Sincerely,

Paul Imhoff, Ed.D.

Superintendent, Upper Arlington Schools
