January 4, 2021 family update - important reminders for students and families

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our students back from winter break beginning tomorrow - Tuesday, January 5! Please read below for important reminders:

Enhanced hybrid learning

As a reminder, students in our school-based pathway will be returning to school in the new enhanced hybrid learning model. Please take note of the schedule for this week, as it varies from a typical five-day hybrid school week:

Tuesday and Wednesday (January 5 and 6):

Hybrid group 1: in school for in-person learning

Hybrid group 2: independent remote learning

Thursday and Friday (January 7 and 8):

Hybrid group 1: independent remote learning

Hybrid group 2: in school for in-person learning

Next week, students will begin the typical enhanced hybrid schedule — two days of in-person learning, enhanced distance learning on Wednesday, and two days of independent learning each week. Please take time to review our updated hybrid learning schedule and our school year calendar as we do have some upcoming four-day school weeks due to federal holidays.

As a reminder, the hybrid learning schedule document is designed to serve simply as a planning guide for families for what the hybrid schedule might look like at any point during the second semester. We will keep you informed if there are any updates. The goal remains welcoming our students back to school five days a week as soon as it is safe to do so.

COVID-19 notifications

If your student has a confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19, please notify COVID Nurse Coordinator Gina Rancitelli, RN, BSN, LSN - at [email protected] or 614-487-5035. This allows us to provide a continuity of education for your student and to track the resulting 90 day period of presumed immunity when a student wouldn’t have to quarantine due to an exposure.

Travel advisories

  • If your family traveled within the United States during winter break, please check to see if your destination is on Ohio's COVID-19 Travel Advisory list. It is advised that anyone entering Ohio from a state with a high incidence of COVID-19 quarantine for 14 days from the time they left that state.

  • If your family traveled outside the country during winter break, please check the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website for quarantine recommendations by country.

COVID-19 symptom checks

Symptom checks are a crucial part of keeping our school communities - and our entire community - safe and healthy amid the pandemic. Please take time each day to assess your student for COVID-19 symptoms before you leave for school or the bus stop each day. You can review this document from public health officials for guidance on when students should stay home from school and when they may return to school.
