Upper Arlington Schools family update - April 23, 2021

Dear families,

Hello, everyone! I hope you’ve had a great week!

I have a few updates today. You can watch my video update here.

Construction update

I want to thank all of the community members and alumni who came out for the final walk-through of Upper Arlington High School last Sunday. Some people drove hours just to come back to Upper Arlington and say goodbye to the building!  It was amazing listening to all of the stories and the memories of this very special place, and we’ll be sad to see the building decommissioned at the end of May.

For those who missed the final walk-through, we’ll be sharing a  virtual walk-through very soon - you can watch our website and my family updates for that. We’ll also be sharing a guided tour of the new Upper Arlington High School - which is on budget and on schedule for a grand opening in August. We can’t wait to welcome our students, staff and community to see this incredible new building in person!

Here’s the link for our latest construction update video, if you’d like to see the progress on the new Windermere Elementary School and the Barrington Elementary School renovation project as well as the new high school.

COVID-19 update

I want to share a short COVID-19 update. Even as the situation has changed in Franklin County, COVID-19 data from our schools and Upper Arlington as a whole continues to be very encouraging. Please still keep up with following all the health and safety precautions at school and outside of school - wearing masks and staying home if you’re sick - so that we continue to head in a positive direction in our community.

You can visit our website to see the latest updates to our COVID-19 data dashboard.

COVID-19 vaccination reminder for families of students 16 or older

If your student has received a COVID-19 vaccination, please submit a copy of your student’s vaccination card to UAHS School Nurse Laurie Long ([email protected]) or COVID Nurse Coordinator Gina Rancitelli ([email protected]) so they can add the immunization information to your student’s health record. This will allow us to immediately identify students who are fully vaccinated and therefore would not need to quarantine due to a COVID-19 exposure.

That does it for my update this week. Have a great weekend, and as always, go Bears!

Sincerely,

Paul Imhoff, Ed.D.

Superintendent, Upper Arlington Schools
