School Busing and Transportation
Upper Arlington Schools offers transportation services to elementary and middle school students who live 1.25 miles or greater from their home school. Transportation is not provided for high school students. Transportation also may be provided to students with special education transportation needs.
Each year, families complete a request for transportation for their student(s) - either at the time of registration for a new student or in May or June through the Transportation Request Form in PowerSchool for a returning student entering grades 1-8.
Accessing Your Student's Bus Routes in Traversa 360
Upper Arlington Schools uses a school transportation program called Traversa My Ride K-12 that allows parents/guardians to access their students' bus stop location, route and pickup time. Parents/guardians can access this information through the Traversa My Ride website or through the My Ride App, available in the App Store for Apple devices or the Google Play Store for Android devices.
For instructions on how to set up a My Ride K-12 account, please access this document. You will need your student's six-digit school ID number, available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal, to connect your student with your account.

Prepay for Your Student's Meals
Families can prepay for student meals by adding money to their account online through PaySchools Central, or by delivering a check payable to Upper Arlington City Schools to the cook at your child's school. Please note that any families of students who are new to the district for the upcoming school year will be able to sign up for PaySchools Central beginning on August 1.

Per Ohio law, new students (kindergartners and students new to the district) are required to have documentation of the state required immunizations on file at their school. Please be sure to submit the your child's immunization record to your school nurse as soon as possible. The state of Ohio allows a 14-day period after entrance to school to submit the immunizations.
For the immunization requirements for students by grade level, please see:
2026-2027 Immunization Information for Enrollment
For questions about immunizations, or if your child needs additional immunizations, first contact your child's primary care provider. If you need to connect with a vaccine clinic, please visit these webpages for additional details and contact information:
Additional Health Forms
New paperwork is required each school year for students who require prescribed medication during the school day and/or have life-threatening food allergies, asthma, seizure plans or diabetes care plans. Please access the forms for these various health needs at the link below and submit them to the health office at your child's school.
School Absences and Religious Holidays
Upper Arlington Schools believes that regular school attendance is vital to student success.
Per Board of Education Policy 5200 - School Attendance, if their child has been absent from school or from class for any reason, parents/guardians must notify their child’s school of the cause for such absence.
Parents/guardians may use the pre-planned absence form below to notify their school principal at least 10 days in advance, when possible, of a planned absence.
To report a student absence due to illness or unplanned circumstances, please contact your child’s school using the notification methods outlined on this page.
Religious Expression Days
A state law allows a student’s parent or guardian to request up to three religious expression days for each school year without any academic penalty. Religious expression days may be used to take holidays for reasons of faith or religious or spiritual belief system or participate in organized activities conducted under the auspices of a religious denomination, church, or other religious or spiritual organization. A parent or guardian that would like to request religious expression days, must submit up to three religious expression days within the 14 school days after the start of the school year.

Gifted Education
Our Gifted Services Program, part of the Student Services Office, is an integral part of our K-12 academic program. The Gifted Services Program provides Upper Arlington students who are receiving services a rigorous curriculum to stretch their thinking and develop to their fullest potential.
While there is no single profile that fits all gifted children, typically these students demonstrate the following characteristics well before their chronological peers:
- acquire knowledge quickly;
- manipulate knowledge easily;
- see relationships between discrete pieces of information;
- understand knowledge at a complex level;
- are capable of abstractions and generalizations;
- show perseverance;
- are independent in thought and judgment;
- are curious about many problems and issues; and
- are motivated by the unknown.
While these characteristics are seen in other students, gifted students demonstrate them well before their chronological peers. Due to these qualities, students who are gifted need unique and diverse opportunities to meet their educational needs.

After-School Child Care

SACC (School Age Child Care) is a self-funded program that is governed by the Upper Arlington Board of Education. SACC is designed to be a link between school and home for the working parent, and it is our goal to serve as many families as possible. SACC strives to create a safe and nurturing environment within our program that encourages independence and mutual respect among peers.
SACC offers students an enriching after-school experience. Our program offers fun, self-directed activities every day that are designed for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We encourage students to use their creativity. Physical well-being is promoted through outdoor recreational activities and indoor activities that promote cooperation and independent problem-solving.
Our programming
Hours of operation are 2:50 to 6:00 p.m. at all five elementary school buildings. Morning hours are offered at Tremont and Windermere from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.
Full-time options (Monday-Friday) and part-time options are available. Part-time options involve a choice of a set schedule of either Monday, Wednesday and Friday (MWF) or Tuesday and Thursday (T-Th). Our program runs according to the Upper Arlington Schools calendar and offers two Early Dismissal days throughout the year.
Enrollment guidelines
To ensure the safety of the students and the quality of the program, SACC enrollment is determined based on the space and staff that is available at each site, and follows guidelines set forth by the Ohio Department of Education. Students who utilize the SACC program must attend the school they attend daily; busing is not offered to another site.
Priority placement is as follows: staff/faculty, currently enrolled families and wait list families from the prior school year who were not placed on a roster. Space availability varies every school year depending on many factors including graduating 5th grade students, siblings new to the program and any students leaving the district.
It is highly recommended to have alternative options for your childcare needs in addition to SACC. You may call or email the SACC office for a list of alternate childcare options in the Upper Arlington area.
