Superintendent's Notes: Master plan milestones quickly approaching
Looking down the renovated second floor hallway at Tremont
We have an exciting year ahead for our schools and our community as we mark some significant milestones in the first phase of the facilities master plan. We’ll start at Tremont this month, when we open the first of our new and renovated learning spaces for our students.

Contractors are working quickly on the final preparations for the new kindergarten and media center addition and the renovated second floor classrooms. We are looking forward to welcoming our students and staff into these amazing new learning spaces after the Presidents Day holiday!

In August, we will celebrate several more milestones, with the completion of first floor renovation at Tremont and the grand opening of the new Greensview and Wickliffe Progressive elementary schools.

All five projects underway in the first phase of the Upper Arlington Schools facilities master plan remain on schedule and on budget. You can look for construction updates, photos and a timeline on our website at www.uaschools.org/facilities.

Legacy Commitment

The start of 2020 also brings us close to the finish line for our historic private fundraising effort the Legacy Campaign. We are grateful for the many Legacy donors who have generously helped raise 91 percent of our $7.5 million goal. We will be continuing to raise the remaining $650,000 over the next several months and look forward to celebrating the Legacy Campaign’s success when the new high school opens in the fall of 2021.

The Legacy campaign is incredibly significant to our school district and our community. It allows us to complete the scope of the first phase of the community-developed facilities master plan and offer enhancements to the schools and student experience.

No other Ohio public school has taken on a project of this magnitude before. Since our fundraising efforts began in January 2019, we have heard from graduates spanning many generations who have shared amazing stories of what an Upper Arlington education has meant to them. It is incredible to see so many alumni, families and community members coming together to leave a legacy and pay it forward for future generations of Upper Arlington students.

The Legacy campaign is looking forward to meeting new donors — if you’d like to learn more, please visit www.uaschools.org/legacy.

Quality Profile

Watch your mailbox this month for the executive summary of our Quality Profile, an accountability report we produce every year. We believe it is critically important to provide our community with tools to measure our progress toward our strategic priorities, and our Quality Profile is a key part of that commitment.

Thanks to our visionary Board of Education, we have embarked on a new strategic plan that defines our priorities for the next several years. The Quality Profile has been updated to align with these new strategic priorities - whole learning and student and staff well-being, with a foundation of continuous improvement.

I encourage you to take some time to read our summary document. You can also read the full Quality Profile on our website at www.uaschools.org/qualityprofile.aspx.
