Recognizing that community service is a way of life in Upper Arlington, we encourage all students to use their gifts and talents in service to others. Students in grades 6-12 are required to log at least 5-6 hours each year, but most of our students do far more hours!
COVID-19 Update: All requirements for community service for the 2021-2022 school year are under review due to the COVID-19 situation. Students will be informed if this becomes a requirement.
- Over the past 11 years, more than 750 of our students have qualified for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, serving hundreds of organizations with thousands of hours of service. Students in grades 9-12 who are interested in obtaining this award can view the requirements on the President's Volunteer Service Award page.
- Seniors who complete more than 120 hours of service during their senior year receive a Honor Cord to wear at graduation. Seniors interested in obtaining this award can see the requirements on the Honor Cord Information page.
- Each IB diploma graduate contributes a minimum of 150 hours of community service.
- Information about community service requirements and how to log student hours can be found on the Community Service page.
