Alumni Spotlight: Cindy Tang, Upper Arlington High School Class of 2018

Cindy Tang is a proud member of the Class of 2018 who was heavily involved in many projects and student organizations while at Upper Arlington High School. She is a continuing third-year student at University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Berkeley Haas School of Business, a bachelor of arts degree in sociology, and a minor in human rights.

Tarik Yousef, UAHS Class of 2001

Tarik Yousef is a graduate of the Ohio State University mechanical engineering program, with a minor in entrepreneurship. He is the founder of T.Y. Fine Furniture, his primary business, but more recently has also launched a 501(c)(3) called COVID-19 Ventilator, Inc. He shares: "We are designing and bringing to market emergency ventilators to assist with the current pandemic. Our goal is to sell ventilators at cost to hospitals that need them."

Peter Kahn, UAHS Class of 1985

Peter Kahn holds the title of Spoken Word Educator at Oak Park River Forest High School (OPRFHS) in suburban Chicago. OPRFHS is the focus of the America to Me documentary series, and Kahn plays a pivotal role as his students use the power of poetry to express their own experiences. Upper Arlington Schools, in partnership with the Upper Arlington Education Foundation, will welcome him for a facilitated discussion on Friday, February 7, 2020, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Upper Arlington High School Little Theater, 1650 Ridgeview Road. Mary DeCesaro Cameron, UAHS Class of 1979 and 2019 UAAA Outstanding Alumnus

Mary DeCesaro Cameron was honored in July of 2019 as the recipient of the Upper Arlington Alumni Association’s Outstanding Alumnus Award. This award recognizes someone who has generously donated his or her time to the Alumni Association and its mission — and Mary has done that. She served on the UAAA board for 13 years and still offers support by volunteering on committees and chairing her class reunions. She celebrated her 40th class reunion this past summer.

Henry Wu, UAHS Class of 2016

Upper Arlington High School graduate Henry Wu was recently named a 2020 Rhodes Scholar. He currently is a senior at The Ohio State University, where he is an honors student pursuing a double major in philosophy and political science. Only thirty-two scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding seniors and recent graduates across the United States. The Rhodes Trust selected Wu for his commitment to fighting human trafficking and researching migration patterns and policies impacting the involuntary movement of peoples.
