UAHS Orchestra Director Chris Lape honored as top "40 Under 40" music educator

Chris Lape, an orchestra director at Upper Arlington High School, has been honored as one of the top music educators in the country with the 2024 Yamaha “40 Under 40” — Music Education Excellence recognition.

Yamaha established this award in 2021 to celebrate 40 educators under age 40 who are leading the way in music education across the country at the K-12, collegiate and professional levels by making a difference in growing and strengthening their music programs and bringing innovation and passion into their classrooms.

UA Schools launching new educational pathways for high school students

Upper Arlington Schools is fortunate to have an exceptional high school program that offers a wide variety of opportunities to students. Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year Upper Arlington High School will be launching new educational pathways for students that build on the successes of existing district programs led by UAHS educators and harness partnership opportunities with colleges, universities and organizations locally and across the state.

These new programs would represent a portion of the student’s school day and would continue to allow them to have the Upper Arlington High School experience while gaining college credit, real-world experience and/or professional credentials, offered tuition-free to students.

5 UAHS juniors recognized with national academic honors

Five Upper Arlington High School juniors have been selected as College Board National Recognition Program honorees. 

The College Board offers these national recognition awards to honor academic excellence among underrepresented populations. Students are considered for these awards based on academic achievements in school and outstanding performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and/or at least two Advanced Placement exams. They must also identify as African American/Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Indigenous, or attend high school in a rural area or small town.

Cash sales for UAHS athletic events

Beginning October 3, Upper Arlington High School will be accepting cash sales at school athletic events, in compliance with a new state requirement. Please note that cash will not be accepted as a payment for tickets or concessions at OHSAA playoff games.

Tickets will be available for cash purchase for $10. For events at Marv Moorehead Stadium, cash will be accepted at the Zollinger Road gate only. For Friday night varsity football home games only, cash will also be accepted at the south gate. Online sales of tickets and season passes will continue to be available at for a discounted rate.
