Community invited to Wickliffe castle playground farewell on May 20

A student-made flyer for the Castle Farewell eventThis spring, the new Wickliffe playground began taking shape, with the installation of new swings and spinners, thanks to initial fundraising efforts by a team of school and community volunteers. Following the end of the school year, the wooden castle structure, which has reached the end of its useful lifespan after being installed more than 30 years ago, will be removed.

Please join the Wickliffe school community for a farewell celebration to enjoy some final moments before we say goodbye to the Wickliffe Castle Playground on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 8:30 a.m., with a reception immediately following. This celebration will be open to all community members and will be held outside near the castle playground. Please bring your own seating. RSVP here.

In advance of the farewell celebration, community members are invited to share their favorite stories about the Wickliffe playground, including what it means to you, time spent playing on the playground or building the playground. You can submit your stories using this form, or by emailing Nikki Thomas at [email protected].

Please also stay up to date with the Wickliffe Wolves Instagram page to share your favorite stories, a few of which will be selected to be shared at the farewell.

This summer, a new play structure will be installed, thanks to funding from Upper Arlington Schools. The team of volunteers are continuing to fundraise — including a recent gift-matching campaign with Northwest Kiwanis that raised $40,000 — for the final phase of the project, which will include Earthscape play structures and help bring the unique personality of the Wickliffe community to the playground.
